SMG Principal - GTM Ops
This is a role for the operator who takes products that survive beta to their first customers - and who builds the go-to-market machine every future Cenotian launch will run on.
We are not hiring a marketing manager, and we are not hiring a program manager. We are hiring the person who sits where the two meet - with personal accountability for customer acquisition, and the judgment to design GTM functions that do not yet exist.
Context
Robotics and industrial automation are entering an explosive adoption phase, comparable to the formative super-cycle decades of aircraft leasing, telecom tower infrastructure, and hyperscale data centers. Yet a fundamental financing and commercialization gap constrains global deployment at scale. Traditional leasing models fail due to their inherent need for residual value, redeployability, and secondary markets. OEMs and system integrators shoulder financing risk, while operators resist capex and stranded risk. Cenotian has solved this structural problem. Cenotian provides asset-backed financing, installation and servicing infrastructure that enables OEMs and builders to scale globally, operators to deploy automation without balance-sheet exposure and without stranded risk, and institutional investors to access a new, prime fixed-income asset class - and is now in hyper-growth, launching new bets, entering new markets, and building the organizational backbone to sustain it. The Special Missions Group is Cenotian's bet-taking machine: a small number of founder-grade generalists who turn the company's high-conviction bets into shipped products. The SMG now produces a new class of problem: bets are surviving beta. A bet that clears beta must be sold repeatably and operated at a known cost. This role exists so that every bet that earns the right to first customers actually gets them.
Position overview
The SMG Principal - GTM Ops owns go-to-market as their sandbox, with a special focus in the first months on customer acquisition and marketing plan execution. This is an execution role with design judgment.
- Reports to:
- Head of Special Missions
- Location:
- Anywhere in Europe
Key responsibilities
- 01
Own bets, the SMG way
- Own bets end-to-end in the same bets approach as every SMG principal: timeboxed, gated, kill-by-default.
- Your bets are go-to-market bets: taking products that survive beta to their first customers.
- 02
Provide centralized GTM support across bets
- Plug into bets at the moment they graduate from beta - potentially several at once.
- Co-own commercialization with the principal who owns the bet. You supply a kit, not a takeover: the owning principal keeps end-to-end ownership.
- 03
Acquire customers and execute the marketing plan
- Design and run the marketing plan behind each launch: channels, sequencing, campaigns, per-channel reporting.
- Select, brief, and manage external providers - agencies, contractors, consultancies. Write the scopes of work and keep all of them moving.
- Carry personal accountability for the customer number, not process oversight.
- 04
Build products and services
- Spend a portion of your time building, like every SMG principal: tools, funnels, automations, and the products the GTM machine itself needs.
- 05
Design how GTM evolves, leave playbooks behind
- Cover aspects of GTM the organization does not yet have. Decide when a hacked-together function (for example customer support) should spin off into its own function, and design what it looks like.
- Every launch produces a playbook: replicable for the next bet and the next country.
You'll know it's working when
Bets hit their first-customer targets on the timeline set at the gate.
Owning principals describe you as a force multiplier, not a dependency.
External providers work against clear scopes, budgets, and per-channel reporting - and are cut quickly when they underperform.
Every channel has a measured cost and conversion rate; budget follows evidence.
The second launch of any product runs faster than the first, because the playbook exists.
Functions spin off at the right moment: designed, staffed, documented.
Candidate profile
What we require
- A track record as a top operator: has taken products, geographies, or functions from zero to live and delivered on ambitious targets.
- Ships outcomes in ambiguous, thinly-resourced environments where the playbook does not exist yet - and writes it as they go.
- Has carried a number with personal accountability, and thinks naturally in unit economics: cost, conversion, payback.
- AI-fluent and shipping with AI tooling, collapsing what used to take a team into one person plus agents.
Nice to have
- Prior GTM, growth, or RevOps roles.
- Channel craft: outbound, events, associations, direct mail, content, partnerships.
- Experience scoping, selecting, and managing agencies or contractors.
Personality
- Extremely powerful operator: strong can-do attitude, high agency and ownership.
- Thrives in ambiguity, complexity, and ambitious targets.
- Ego-less by design: co-owns bets with other principals and feels as accountable for their success as the colleague who technically owns the bet.
- High stamina, sound judgment, extreme resilience.
